Hi all i am busy trying to discover what skills i have devloped during my years on the degree corse. As i approach the end i can reflect on my personal development and look forward to the future. I am thinking about where i go next should i teach or not?
I would like to tach in higher education as i have such a wide experience of child care i would like to teach at the college but the jobs dont come up often and i would need to train and gain the teaching certificate so for now i am pondering my future who knows i may end up in a supermarket checkout!
But i have the self satisfaction of knowing i can do things and i love learning.

Well i have had a bad week i am fed up at work my employers have not yet paid the increase to the minimum wage and are holding back it makes me feel so demoralised and under valued that i am thinking of leaving. We have ofste soon and are expected to work hard and get through it but i feel like being honest and saying what i feel. On a cheerier note i am enjoying my studies but am worried i will not be able to do all the work it is so busy this term!

Hi again
I have completed a training course and i am now A Care Ambassador for the Isle of Wight Council (posh eh!) no money though. I am now able to go into schools to talk about working in the care sector,i work with children and my partner with elderly and we are now trying to encourage young people to think about a career in care as a profession not just wiping bums! it is a pilot scheme for local authorities and we are the second in the country to try it.I must admit it does feel a little hippocritical for me to represent care when i am very dedicated to getting educational recognition for child care workers rather than being seen as carers but it is a start i suppose as i am free to talk about my own career so i may add my feelings to the presentation.

Its the start of the new term and i am really looking forward to the challenges ahead thanks for all the comments on my attempt and the encouragement .
I have some ideas about action research invoving my 3 areas and am trying to refine them a little.
I have had a discussion with my boss about this web log and she is concerned about the confidentiality implications so i may not use this space for all learning journal entries as they may not be suitable and i dont want to get into trouble!
AS a personal place though i think this will be fun to share my ideas about thing like schemas and brain gym and the different appraoches to child development.
I have agreed to train as a childcare ambassodor and begin three days of training next week i will then go into high schools to talk about childcare careers and raise the profile of the work so that it is seen as a professional career that needs well trained practitioners who can follow the curriculum and provide a high standard of care and more impotantly education so maybe we will be recognised for the work we do and eventually get paid a decent wage!!!!
